Checking Microsoft Outlook 5.0 E-mail settings

Open Microsoft Outlook Express 5.0. Go to the "Tools" menu and click on "Accounts".

Screen Shot: Click on the "Tools" menu, then click on "Accounts".

Make sure you have the account you want to check the properties of selected (to select an account click on it once), then click "Properties".

Screen Shot: Make sure you have the mail account selected you want by clicking on it once, then click on "Properties".

You should now be under the "General" tab. Make sure you have your "E-mail address" typed in correctly, and that you have the option, "Include this account when receiving mail or synchronizing" checked at the bottom. There is no need to type in anything for the "Reply to address". As a little bit of advice, rename the "Mail Account" from pop.cxp.com to your E-mail address. This just makes it easier to know which account you are working on. Click on the "Servers" tab.

Screen Shot: [General Tab] Make sure you have your "E-mail address" typed in correctly and that the option, "Include this account when receiving mail or synchronizing" is selected.

Make sure you have the "Incoming mail (POP3)" server set to "pop.cxp.com". Also make sure you have the "Outgoing mail (SMTP)" server set to "smtp.cxp.com". Check what you have your "Account name" set to, this will be the same as your "Username". Retype your "Password" just to make sure it is still typed in correctly. Make sure that the option, "Log on using Secure Password Authentication" is NOT checked. Also make sure the option, "My server requires authentication." is NOT checked. Click on the "Connection" tab.

Screen Shot: [Servers Tab] Incoming mail (POP3) should be "pop.cxp.com". Outgoing mail (SMTP) should be "smtp.cxp.com". Then make sure your Username is typed in correctly and retype your Password in.

The option, "Always connect to this account using:" should NOT need to be checked. Since there is no real settings that can affect E-mail under the "Security" tab, we are going to skip it and go to the "Advanced" tab. Click on the "Advanced" tab.

Screen Shot: [Connection Tab] The option, "Always connect to this account using:" should not need to be checked.

The options under this tab are typically NEVER needed to be changed. Just incase something has went wrong though, confirm the "Outgoing mail (SMTP)" server port number is "25" and that the "Incoming mail (POP3)" server port number is "110". Make sure that the option(s), "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)" is NOT checked. Click on "OK", we're done! :)

Screen Shot: [Advanced Tab] You shouldn't ever need to change these. Just make sure you have the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server port # set to "25" and the Incoming mail (POP3) server port # set to "110".

That should be just about it! Go ahead and click on "Close".

Screen Shot: Click on "Close".

That's it!! Microsoft Outlook Express 5.0 should now be properly configured to receive e-mail from your CyberXpress account. To have your mail delivered or received, click on "Send and Receive". If you're not already connected, Outlook should use your Dial-Up Networking connection to dial CyberXpress. All received mail should appear in the Inbox.
